Why Email Marketing Matters During The Pandemic
As I write this, COVID-19 is changing the world.
Locally, restaurants and businesses have been forced to close. Small business owners are freaked out about their future and the future of their businesses.
The good news?
Entrepreneurs are adaptable. Many are already pivoting to provide online services, doorstep delivery, and content aimed at helping their customers.
You might already be one of these adaptable entrepreneurs and have a coronavirus plan all mapped out.
Or you might be where I've been the past week...
Or you might be in between, thinking about what you can do to use online marketing to promote your business, because #socialdistancing.
One powerful thing I'd urge you to consider is to lean into email marketing.
Why?
Because email marketing is intimate in a way that social media isn't.
Unlike with social, you have your subscribers' permission to show up in their sacred email inboxes.
Plus, on social media, a fraction of your followers will see your posts (estimates come in anywhere from 1-6%).
So even if you think your open rate is low, it's likely higher than 1-6%. (Open rates of 15%-30% are average.)
Emails trump social media when it comes to getting eyeballs on your content.
Don't get me wrong - I love social media, too.
But if you've been thinking about using email marketing, I encourage you to make it more of a priority in your business.
Keep an eye on this space, because I'll be sharing more on email marketing in the next few days.
